Birds of a Feather

Escapees Birds of a Feather (BOF) groups share lifestyle interests such as boondocking, working on the road, disaster relief, biking and hiking, boomers, amateur radio, pet lovers, and solos, just to name a few! Expand your talents and share your knowledge. Whether you are a beginner or an expert, you are welcome to join. Or if there isn't a BOF devoted to your specific interest, you can start your own.

Most BOFs have a newsletter to help their members keep in touch with each other. Some BOFs meet in person only at Escapades, while others also hold rallies between Escapades. There is no charge to join a BOF, although most require a small fee to receive their newsletter if they publish one. Certified groups (C-BOFs) are larger, have officers and generally require a minimal fee to join.

Escapees Birds of a Feather (BOF) groups are a great way to find members that enjoy the same hobbies or interests that you do. And if there isn’t a group, you can start one!

BOFs Management Documents

Manuals and forms for BOF leadership can be found on the manuals and forms page.

Start Your Own BOF

If there isn't already a BOF focused on your special interest, it's easy to start one, and Escapees will help you get the word out.

A BOF group needs:
  • a theme or topic that's a shared interest - more on this below
  • an organizer and leader (not necessarily the same person)
  • if it will meet in person, a time and a place with the required facilities to get together
  • a method for communicating with other members (email list, online group, print newsletter, etc.)
The topic or theme of the group must not be in conflict with any of the rules or values of the Escapees RV Club, and its primary activity cannot be the marketing or selling of a product. Most group ideas are accepted, provided they are not “hate-related” or currently covered by another BOF group, and have a theme that will be of interest to a significant number of members.

A BOF group may consist of members of a larger group unaffiliated with the Escapees RV Club, such as Elks, Christian Fellowship, or Friends of Bill W., but all members of the BOF group must be Escapees members.
